If you’re sick and tired of using S Voice, you’re probably after an alternative. After all, the voice command functionality is very useful when it works. Google Now uses some pretty state-of-the-art technology, so it’s a very worthy alternative to Samsung’s existing S Voice. This article will cover the basic process for adding Google Now as your default voice command app.
Ensure You Have Google Now on Your Device
This may seem obvious, but it’ll save you the headache. Check in your apps for the “Google” app. Easy, right?
Download and Install the Home2 Shortcut
On opening the app, you’ll be presented with a rather archaic app design – but don’t let that fool you. This app does exactly what it says it does.
Start S Voice and Navigate to Settings
Press the menu key while the S Voice app is open, then click “Settings”.
Deselect the “Open via Home Key” Option
Really straightforward. Just tap it with your finger!
Start Up the Home2 Shortcut App
There’s only three steps to do now. Chose the Home > Home application as “Google” as shown below:
Follow the rest of the steps presented by the app, including setting a single home press to take you to your favorite home launcher (probably NovaLauncher).
Give it a shot! If all went properly, you should end up with a Google Now app when double pressing the home button vs the S Voice. If you have any questions, comment below and I will answer.
